(Reuters photo)FORT MYERS, Florida, US -- Hurricane Irma was set to make landfall in Florida on Sunday with devastating winds and life-threatening storm surges, prompting one of the largest evacuations in US history, after a destructive march up Cuba's northern coast. The storm was about 90 miles (145kms) southeast of Key West, Florida at midnight, with maximum sustained winds near 120 mph (193kph). Wind gusts near hurricane force began to batter the Florida Keys late on Saturday, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. Chris Cardona and his wife Laurie left their mobile home near Miami on Thursday to seek refuge with friends near Tampa.
